"I enjoy the welcoming, collaborative environment in Dr. Li’s lab, where I have found supportive mentors and growth opportunities. This lab enables me to refine my skills and apply them to impactful, real-world challenges in disease pathology research."
Dr. Lingjun Li’s lab stood out to me because of its extensive research in MALDI-based mass spectrometry imaging, particularly for studying complex human pathologies like Alzheimer’s disease. The Li Lab at UW-Madison uses advanced imaging to reveal molecular distributions in tissue samples, which combines my interest in analytical chemistry and pharmacology. This lab’s approach to integrating mass spectrometry with single-cell analysis offers powerful tools to study disease biomarkers, making it a unique fit for my interests in applying imaging technologies to human health challenges.
I am currently working on characterizing glycans, metabolites, and lipids from fresh frozen tissue sections of control and diseased brains. I am also optimizing antigen retrieval and decrosslinking protocols to obtain better resolutions for these images.
